Fresno City College and FPU join forces for Fire Science Academy

A new partnership between Fresno Pacific University and Fresno City College that brings FCC’s Fire Science Academy to the FPU North Fresno Campus expands educational opportunities. The opening of the academy will be celebrated by a ribbon-cutting at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019, on the North Fresno campus, Suite 202 (second floor), 5 River Park Place West, Fresno.

Facilities at the academy include shared space for FCC faculty and staff, practice clinical areas and a classroom dedicated to EMT instruction. Computer and lounge areas are available for both FPU and FCC students. The suite also houses FPU’s Veteran’s Office as well as offices for members of the nursing staff.

“This logistical partnership provides a pathway for fire and EMT students to get the education they need to save lives today, then add to that through bachelor’s studies in management or other fields at FPU. This creates a more effective and professional workforce in these high-demand fields,” said Jon Endicott, FPU vice president of enrollment management.

Attendees from Fresno City College will include: Carol Goldsmith, Ed.D., president; Don Lopez, vice president of instruction; Becky Barabe, Ed.D., dean of instruction, applied technology; and Lataria Hall, Ed.D., vice president of student services. Attendees from FPU will include: D. Gayle Copeland, Ph.D., provost/senior vice president for academic affairs; Dale Scully, vice president of student life; Katie Fleener, Ph.D., dean of the School of Business; Linda Hoff, Ph.D., head of the Teacher Education Program Division; and Jon Endicott, vice president of enrollment management. Also attending will be DeWayne Zinkin Sr., of Zinkin Development, which owns the building.
