Kinesiology Department Announcement

Hello Faculty & Staff!

The Kinesiology Department is pleased to announce a new PE Activity Course, as well as update you on our current offerings. As you know, one of the perks of working at FPU is free tuition for staff & faculty. Why not skip the gym membership and save money (or augment your current exercise program) by taking advantage of our activity offerings right here on campus?

PE 100 - Beginning Tennis. Yes, tennis is back not only as a sport but as an activity class. This course is taught by Sara Johnson, M/W from 1:00 - 1:50 p.m. Sara is a certified tennis instructor, has coaching experience and, of course, is an assistant professor and program director for Moderate/Severe, Early Childhood Special Education, & APEAA.

PE 120 - Dance Movement. Why not get in a little dancing in on your lunch hour? We'll be doing dances that can be used in the elementary school setting. Taught by Fay Nielsen, M/W from 12:00 - 12:50 p.m.

PE 123 -  Self Defense. Learn how to better recognize threats before they become an issue of self-defense.  We have two sections of this course taught by Bruce Whitsitt, M/W @ 8:00 a.m. and T/TH @ 7:45 a.m. Start your day off with a little exercise!

PE 126 - Walking for Fitness. Get in those 10,000 steps around campus with instructor Jaime Ramirez. Learn the basics of creating your own walking program and enjoy some time outdoors. Taught on M/W @ 11:00 a.m.

PE 138 - Weight Training, taught by Danny Baladi. We want to welcome Danny as a new Instructor in the activity program. Danny brings a wealth of knowledge to this course through his expertise as our Strength & Conditioning Coach. Join Danny in the Fitness Center on M/W at 9:00 a.m.

PE 146 - Backpacking.  Get ready for a great backing trip with Kerry Sue Brown. You will not only learn about the basics of backpacking but you'll be able to put your new skills into practice on one of two scheduled weekend trips. This course meets on Tuesday nights @ 5:30 p.m.

We look forwarding to exercising with you! Please contact Fay Nielsen with any questions.
