National Hispanic Serving Institutions Week

National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week will be celebrated and highlighted on September 16 – 20, 2019.    A week that brings light to the importance and influence that Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) have had in the United States.  It is truly a blessing to work at an HSI that serves more than 45% Hispanic or Latino students.

In recognition of HSI week and to heighten awareness of the important role HSIs play in higher education everyone is encouraged to visit the ALAS Intercultural Learning Center (SCC 122) this week for the following campus activities:

Tuesday, September 17, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Artist Marcos Dorado, Immigrant Me (art exhibit currently displayed in McDonald Hall) in partnership with Chris Janzen, Art Program

Wednesday, September 18, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Professor Ken Friesen:  Study Abroad information in the ALAS Center for students who want to find out more about study abroad options and why they should consider it.

Thursday, September 19, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m., Viva La Musica: journey through the diverse world of Hispanic music (refreshments will be provided)
