Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Did you know that October is cybersecurity awareness month? In honor of this distinction, IT Services would like to provide you with a few tips and tricks throughout the month to keep you on your toes when it comes to identifying and preventing phishing attempts and identity scams. In addition, if you have not already recently completed it, you should receive an email from our compliance training service with a link to the Checkpoint: Data Security & Privacy (EDU) training. The email will say it is from Fresno Pacific University but the email address will be donotreply@lawroom.com. Thank you for taking cybersecurity seriously.

Tip number one – Don’t ever say “It won’t happen to me.”  You, your identity, and what you have access to are targets to hackers and you must remain vigilant.

Tip number two – Lock it up. Never leave your devices unattended. If you need to leave your computer, phone, or tablet for any length of time—no matter how short—lock it up so no one can use it while you’re gone. If you keep sensitive information on a flash drive (not recommended) or external hard drive, make sure to lock it up as well.
