Senior Professional Seminar 11/12

The Senior Professionals seminar for Tuesday, November 12 (2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in SCC 103), features FPU's own Jaime Ramirez, "A Legend on Campus." Faculty and staff are invited to attend as guests of the Council.

Jaime Ramirez joined the head coaching ranks at Fresno Pacific in 1991 after serving as an assistant for nine years. He has coached the Sunbirds men to the most wins in FPU soccer history and to multiple championships. He is also the driving force behind FPU women's soccer. Jaime is known on campus for his fitness routines and many soccer players in the Fresno area see him as a mentor, both for how to play the game and how to live life.

Jaime grew up in Mexicali, Mexico and moved to Clovis at the age of 11. Having enrolled at FPU in 1977, he completed both his Bachelor's Degree and a Masters at FPU. Prior to joining the faculty, he played one season for the Los Angeles Azetcs and taught for 12 years at Aynesworth Elementary School in Fresno.  He currently also serves as coaching director for the Valley United Soccer Club.

Jaime and his wife Laura Beth live near the campus and are the parents of three grown children; Orlando and wife Cassie, Julie, and Gabriel. They are also proud grandparents of Jude, Owen, and Sydney. In this presentation, Jaime will share with us some highlights of his life story, including his childhood in Mexico and his more than 40 years connected with Fresno Pacific.
