Senior Professionals Announcement 11/19

The Senior Professionals seminar happening today (2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in SCC 103), features Stan and Delores Friesen telling their story of "Service and Mission in India, Oklahoma, Africa and Fresno." Faculty and staff are invited to attend as guests of the Council.

Stan and Delores have lived in Fresno since 1988, which is amazing, since their first 15 years of married life included more than a dozen moves.

Delores grew up on a farm in Pryor, Oklahoma, where her father served as pastor at the Zion (OM) Church. Stan was born and raised in central India, where his EMB grandparents and parents served as missionaries for 75 consecutive years beginning in 1907. Family roots, however, go back further, and so both Stan and Delores recently traveled to Poland and Ukraine to understand family history better.

Both Stan and Delores are graduates of Hesston and Goshen Colleges, completed Master's degrees in African Studies at Indiana University, and hold Ph.D.'s from the University of Iowa. Both are published authors, teachers and ordained ministers. Delores is Professor Emerita at Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary, and Stan was conference minister for Pacific Southwest Conference of the Mennonite Church, and served for seven years as one of the pastors at College Community Church (now Willow Avenue Mennonite), and has helped initiate and administer both FIRM and COSA ministries.

The Friesen’s have three children and six grandchildren. All live in the Midwest--Chicago, Goshen and Carmel, Indiana.
