School of Education New Hires

Faculty Hiring:

We are pleased to announced the hiring of Michelle Pengilly, Ed.D., as the program director for our teacher education program in Visalia.  Michelle recently served as the director of ELD special projects in the Exeter Unified School District and has also held positions as director of curriculum and instruction as well as a school principal. Michelle has also received her bachelor of arts degree from California State University Fresno, where she also received her master’s degree in educational leadership and multiple subjects teaching credential. She received her doctoral degree from the University of California Davis/California State University Fresno joint doctoral program.

Michelle writes:

My philosophy of education in the classroom or in educational settings always has been one that conveys an openness to ideas and expressions. I value diversity and I’m curious to know a student’s story or a colleague’s background. There are lessons to be learned from others and valuable components that can be relevant to instruction.

Michelle will begin her assignment at the start of the spring semester.

Staff Hiring:

We are delighted to announce the hiring of Ashley Mendoza as the program assistant for our Teacher Education and Reading programs on the main campus. Ashley graduated from Fresno Pacific University with a degree in Liberal Arts. Most recently, Ashley worked at Kotman Technology as an administrative assistant and service coordinator.

Ashley will begin work on January 13.

We welcome Michelle and Ashley to the School of Education community!
