Interested in Research? Become an IRB Member

If you have an interest in research and would like to be involved with protecting, the rights, safety and welfare of individuals who participate in research conducted by our FPU students, consider serving as an IRB member.

At Fresno Pacific University, faculty, staff and students in many academic disciplines conduct research that involves human participants (or subjects). FPU Institutional Review Board (IRB) oversees the ethical conduct of research at the university. IRB members play an essential role in this review process and faculty bring diverse backgrounds and experience to the review of protocols.

The IRB committee reviews over 200 protocols annually and the number continues to grow! IRB is charged with the review of proposed research protocols in order to ensure that the rights of human subjects are protected and that risk of harm to subjects is minimized. The framework for the protection of human subjects is set in federal regulations. New to IRB? That is ok, we provide training!

If you are interested in serving our research community, this volunteer opportunity may be for you. Please contact Maribel.Viveros@fresno.edu for further information.
