Witt Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

The NCAA announced on Tuesday a record 605 nominees for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, including Fresno Pacific water polo captain Sam Witt. The award was created to honor graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.

"Being nominated for Woman of the Year was an absolute shock. I am humbled and so grateful that my mentors would see me this way, and I will always be amazed that this school has recognized me when, in fact, it is the whole FPU community that has helped me get to this point," Witt said. "I've received four years of support from loving coaches, bosses, professors, teammates and friends who constantly pushed me to be better in my faith, school and athletic endeavors. My time at Fresno Pacific represents a testament to the woman I have prayed about becoming and still am growing into."
