FPU Postpones Culture and Arts Center Groundbreaking

The university has decided to postpone the groundbreaking ceremony for the Culture & Arts Center until a future date. The current date was selected months ago to coincide with the October meeting of the FPU Board of Trustees. At that time, we anticipated COVID-19 protocols would have been lessened by October, allowing us to celebrate with unrestricted board and community participation. As the date approached it became obvious the COVID-19 protocols could not be relaxed, the board would not meet on campus and reservations indicated groundbreaking attendance would exceed levels allowed by public health officials. Finally, PG&E has committed all available heavy equipment to deal with forest fires, causing a delay in site work for the CAC.

Please rest assured work on the CAC goes on. The “Together We Build” campaign will conclude in December, and the university will provide a more complete project status at that time. In the meantime, progress continues in fundraising and project value engineering progress continues, as well as drawings and development of construction documents.
