Alumna Gets National Notice for her Work with Visalia-Area Foster Youth

A graduate who helps foster youth is being highlighted by the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.

Ashley Jaramillo (BA ’19) will be featured on the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities social media Monday, October 12, 2020, as FPU’s 2021 Young Alumni Award nominee. The Visalia Campus alumna was nominated for creating a nonprofit called F.A.R. (Formal Attire Ready), which provides foster youth with attire appropriate for special events such as prom, graduation and other occasions they might not otherwise be able to enjoy. Jaramillo understands the challenges these teens face because she was a foster youth herself. F.A.R. began as a project for a class in Jaramillo’s B.A. Business Administration: Organizational Leadership Emphasis program, and has received an award from the Visalia Chamber of Commerce.
