Alpha Chi in St. Louis

The Fresno Pacific delegation has just returned from the Alpha Chi’s Annual Honors Conference, which was in St. Louis this year. The competition within Fresno Pacific for convention spots (limited by our shared budget constraints) was collegial, but vigorous. The five selected to attend represented us well! We have a most impressive result to report: Nicole Marshall won her Psychology section for her work on the origin of language; Charlie Castanon won in Music and the Arts for his consideration of music and the Logos. Anthony Fredette won in World Literature with his insight into Boethius’ use of both prose and poetry; in addition, he won a graduate scholarship. Allison Ens and Will DePledge also did very fine presentations. The students did all this after a full day of plane delays. Further, Pam Johnston was elected Secretary/Treasurer of our region (VII), and to the National Council. Marshall Johnston was elected Vice President of our region. Our Alumnus Joshua Blagaila was elected to another year on the National Council. We had a great time together, and are looking forward to next year in Chicago--it is really a motivational bonus that we punched so far above our weight!
